The Mercer County Commissioners hosted their annual “Appreciation” Breakfast served by Mercer County employees April 10, 2008. Each year city’s are rotated within the county where the breakfast is held and this year it was in Stanton. A total of 150 people signed the Guestbook. Each year has a different theme and this year’s theme was Protecting Our Children. A coloring contest was held involving 3rd Grade students from Hazen, Beulah and Stanton participating. During the month of April community service providers were asked to display blue pinwheels signifying nearly 1366 students enrolled in Mercer County public schools, grades K-12. The purpose of this public awareness campaign is to demonstrate support of children and youth, and raise awareness of their value within the community.   The children all colored a “Pinwheels for Prevention” poster provided to them. There were prizes too. Nice prizes…thanks to these businesses that so generously provided three each of the following prizes:

1st Prize donated by AmericInn Lodge & Suites, Beulah  - A one-nights stay at the lodge

2nd Prize donated by Molco Lanes, Beulah - $40 bowling pass gift certificate

3rd Prize donated by Cinema Twin Theaters & Video, Hazen - One movie pass with fun-pack

 

Three winners from each school were chosen, and the kids from Stanton were able to join us for breakfast!
